Explorius

 Overview

Explorius is an app that connects travelers and digital nomads, by allowing them to book different activities, and day trips together through partnerships with local vendors, reserving spots just for the users, an itinerary page that consolidates all of your planning for trips, a map that shows other nomads in your area, and a messaging feature to connect with nomads.

 Process

Explorius was created in a 10 week design sprint using the double diamond framework.

Discovery Phase

We gathered data from people within the nomad community, as well as with non nomads. From the insights, we honed in on the problem at hand: pain points, defined goals, and identified white space. This allowed us to create the, problem statement: current digital nomads find it overwhelming and stressful to plan successful trips tailored to their lifestyles while at the same time preventing social isolation. And find our How Might We...help digital nomads create meaningful connections with like-minded people, by participating in shared experiences. Our Goal is to allow travelers in the same area who do not know each other, to meet up while partaking in exclusive excursions  - forming friendships and decreasing the feeling of social isolation.

Design Phase

From the data we collected, as well as secondary research we further investigated the topic, and consolidated the ideas we formulated as a result. After we completed the discovery phase we moved into redeveloping concepts, rescoping the project, and creating branding that was best tailored to our target audience.

Prototype Phase

Once our concepts were finalized we then transferred and reorganized our ideas into a mobile platform. Through several rounds of user testing, card sorting, and feedback from peers, we transitioned our Lo Fi prototype into Mid Fi, and then into a Hi Fi functional mobile platform.

 Outcome

Explorius is an app that connects travelers and digital nomads, by allowing them to book different activities, and day trips together through partnerships with local vendors, reserving spots just for the users, an itinerary page that consolidates all of your planning for trips, a map that shows other nomads in your area, and a messaging feature to connect with nomads.

Key Features

Meeting New People: Meet new people by participating in public events and private excursions or meeting up with them by sharing your location using the map feature.

Finding Friends: Let nearby use know that you're looking for company while working in a coffee shop or make sure that no one from your excursion group gets lost. Sharing your location makes everything easier.

Safety: You always know when you are sharing your location. The toggle between stealth mode and visible mode is clearly indicated on several screens throughout the app. With stealth mode, no one can see your location.

Itinerary: Keep track of all your tickets, trips, events, and excursions easily in the app.
